words words words

Hey gang it has been at least a month since I last posted....i know y'all have been on the edge of your seats waiting for my next post to come out (thick sarcasm). A whole bunch has happened since my last post, like christmas break, christmas itself, and i guess some other stuff too...  anyways This little anecdote kind of ties into the Christmas theme (kind of a stretch if I do say so myself), But here you go.

Well here it goes...I was about to fall asleep tonight, and as I laid my head down, I began to think of how ungrateful I am. This thought has been lingering in the back of my head for quite some time I suppose, but I think it really was something I wanted to talk about tonight. I think we have all heard the speech, about how America is the best country on Earth and how we are blessed to live here (maybe not.. , but I have at least) but I think because we were raised in this country in this day and age, we are just used to having an excess of stuff, and it isn't normal for us to not have more than enough things. But I think I am starting to get a little side tracked, back to my story.... I thought about just how much I have and how I don't deserve any of it. I think I never slow down enough to realize that I am blessed beyond belief! I am just in awe of how much God has given me. I think the most humbling part is that I don't deserve a single thing....I have recently been reading Job, and the thing that amazes me the most is that after everything Job loved was taken away from him, he worshipped God!! here is the verse if your interested, and if your'e not then you can just skip down to the next paragraph:

Job 1:13-22

[13] Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house, [14] and there came a messenger to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them, [15] and the Sabeans fell upon them and took them and struck down the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” [16] While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” [17] While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, “The Chaldeans formed three groups and made a raid on the camels and took them and struck down the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” [18] While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house, [19] and behold, a great wind came across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young people, and they are dead, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

[20] Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. [21] And he said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”
[22] In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.

If you read the verse above cool, but if not that is fine too, but I guess what I am trying to get at is that I am truely blessed, and deserve none of what I have, If you can take anything from reading this (skimming for the other one or two people) Is that God blesses us beyond belief...
For anyone that actually takes time out of their day, or night to read my posts, it means the world to me so thank you and good night

Alright everyone (using everyone because someone made fun of me for saying gang and team too much...sad day..) but whatever I get into the rut every week or two of being bored...not always bored of corse, but just bored of getting up early in the morning, going to school, counting the minutes till lunch, then the counting the seconds until the end of the day (true story one math class I counted every second of class until the bell rang) but anyways, I want to find ways of making my school days at least semi-entertaining....so this is where tonights post is different.....I'd like to ask y'all what are some ways to make the day at least bearable. If you have any suggestions at all let me know...it'd be really swell k thanks bye

Psych

Well I guess my blog has been pretty intense so tonight I will post on the wonderfull'ness' (not a thing) of Psych.

Lets start with a synopsis (as best as I can do): Psych is simply a show about a Psychic detective Shawn Spencer (James Roday) and his partner and long time best friend Burton Guster "Gus"(DulĂ© Hill)Solving cases for the Santa Barbara Police Department.....The thing is Shawn isn't a Psychic. He is merely super observant after his father (Corbin Bensen) trains him to be a cop throughout his  childhood. He is used by the Police to solve crimes using his "Powers". And things are always unpredictable and exciting. It Is like CSI Miami but way less dramatic looks at the camera while putting on sunglasses (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mznsEcZlM2I).Almost every episode starts out with Shawn's dad teaching him a lesson of some kind that comes into play in the episode. After that you are in store for an hour or so of hilarious and witty crime solving.

Well now that you know at least a little about the show I will share my opinion, and why I think it is so awesome. I think the best place to start is the beginning of the show, with the intro. It is awesome by itself, but they change it up for episodes like christmas, one about a mexican soap opera (my favorite intro), halloween, and an episode about Indian people...Which is awesome. Next off I  LOVE the way this show is written, It is so quick and witty! The way Shawn and Gus interact they are constantly arguing about random things and going on tangents it is hilarious. The way they work together is remarkable. Also the way Shawn talks with Lassie it is so much fun to watch. One of the last reasons is love this show is great is that they don't take themselves seriously example; There is at least one pineapple in almost all the episodes, like how Seinfeld has Superman in every episode. And my favorite part of all....It's on NETFLIX!!
Well this has been my brief description of Psych!

Joel 2:12-14

Starting tonight off with a simple verse....

12"Yet even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; 13and rend your hearts and not your garments."Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.
14 Who knows whether he will not turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, a grain offering and a drink offering for the LORD your God?

I underlined the words "rend" and "relents" because honestly I had no idea what they meant in realtion to these verses....according to dictionary.com Rend means "to tear apart, split, or divide" and "relents" means to soften in feeling, temper, or determination; become moremild, compassionate, or forgiving. So there you have it.

This verse truly is amazing! It is so encouraging to read that God, "is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding steadfast love". But I think as a person I read this tonight, and only view God as a forgiver, which he is don't get me wrong" (not quite sure that is a word). But he is also so much more than just the person we say a word to every night so we can sleep better.I feel like at least in my life sometimes God is only my forgiveness, and that is all. But in reality God is so much more, He convicts us, and leads us, and...even corrects us when we are wrong.....I feel like alot of the time I have a lopsided view on who God is.... and  Pardon me for bringing a Talladega Nights quote (scene) into a rather deep blog post, but what the hay!...so watch and enjoy!

I promise you this isn't just a random clip of Talladega nights.....it is actually relevant to my point!!But this clip I think can really sum up how a lot of us view God, (not exactly), but when Ricky says, I like the "Christmas Jesus", the best so I pray to him (paraphrazing) It is like how we view God as something so we can get what we need from him...sorta...hope y'all are following...But God is sometimes put in the box and labeled as whatever you want God to be in this case being "Christmas Jesus" But what I,and maybe you as the reader as well, have to understand is that God is so much more than just forgiveness and healing, but a friend, and the stern hand that guides you. But what I am trying to tell myself mostly tonight is that God needs to be more than a last word at the end of my night, but a huge factor in my life....

But tonight If you didn't know this before God is all of these things listed in this verse! but also so much more as well!!

On that note good night and happy thanksgiving!

Staying on fire

Alright it truly has been a while and for all of you i deeply apologize, but I would like to let everyone who doesn't have a blog know that the want to blog comes and goes quite often!

Let's ease into tonight's blog with a little tidbit from my life....MY KNEE FREAKING HURTS!! I'm not even sure why...it just does...And also we went to the Austin Zoo and had the most glorious personal train ride from Cody the Conductor...(hope this nickname sticks so bad!!) Alright well that was at least part of my day....

So tonight I would like to ask a simple question....
How Do You Keep Your Passion Alive
(In other words, staying on fire...)
This doesn't even need to be a spiritual question, just a simple question about what either keeps you happy or in some cases what keeps you busy in life...(that phrase wasn't planned but man did it sound good when I typed it!)

I understand that everyone has things in their lives that keep them sane wether it'd be sports or knitting or whatever it is.... But how do you keep your passion for that thing you love.
Technically for me right now that is a spiritual thing but this can work both ways...sooo you can keep reading either way!
But I feel like life can suck the passion out of so quickly that you don't even remember what it felt like to have such strong passions in your life...Maybe for me it is just forgetfulness, or something, but definitely not for lack of trying...(maybe a little)  But I wonder how to make sure I stay passionate through just a couple days, and not lose all those amazing feelings built up inside of me!
So the two or three of my loyal readers (hope i am not overestimating this number!...but it's the internet so technically if I said I had a million loyal readers you would never know...)So loyal millions of readers, I ask you to really find what you are passionate about this week and stick with it!
I will try my best as well!
K Bye,
Tim Coleman

1 Timothy

Technically the only reason this is a blog post is because it won't fit on facebook (shakes fist angrily!)

1 Timothy 1:14-17
14The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. 17Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

This verse truly is amazing! I mean it has it all basically....
Breaking down kind of what this verse means to myself:
It starts off with something truly stunning...the stating that the Lord loves us so much that he personally will "pour" out his grace and love on us. (kind of cool) I think this second verse is like ok so here is how I view this, and it is so obvious it should be common knowledge, that God loved each and every one of us so much that He sent his son down to Earth to save us from our own sinfulness. The intriguing part of this is when he says that "[he] is the worst".This verse is one of those (insert booming noises of stuff like blowing up while signaling with your hands the literal exploding of your mind). He says that because he was a sinner thatJesus did come to this Earth, for the worst of the worst, so that they might see him. He says that God used him as an example of how great His power and patience truly are. Verse 17 is how I am going to try and end all of my prayers from here on out, "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."...well that is my thoughts on this at 2:40am :)

Some things I am looking forward too...

Today I got to take a 4 hour nap which was truly glorious. I love that feeling you get when someone wakes you up from that nap and they talk to you as if you are fully aware of every syllable and word that comes out of their mouth. And really just saying what alot. (none of this is part of what i will talk about tonight, but I enjoy letting you guys into what some of my life looks like)

Ok on to tonights topic....
Tonight i would like to talk about how much I am looking forward to winter you know the beautiful delicate snow, that covers the earth like a big fluffy white blanket? I cant wait for that to come to Austin.....
Thank you Alex Bennitt
Just kidding that only happens in beautiful places....this is the snow we actually get in Austin. But in all seriousness these are the things I am looking forward too most about the winter.

Outline of things I am looking forward to throughout the Winter months
  1. Just the feel of the winter
  2. Sweater, Jacket, and Coat season
  3. The Holiday menu at Starbucks
  4. The break from school
  5. Elf
  6. and last but not least Christmas!!
First of all with the season of Winter there is a sort of ambience that comes along with it. It is almost impossible to explain, but there is a definite change in people and kind of the everyday vibe. People are kinder around the holidays, and that is just kind of a well known fact. I just like the feel of seeing lights on people's houses, and the decorations. (it is not like halloween where if you do put decorations up they are lame and strange) They kind of just make you feel good inside. That is number one in my 6 part list.

The second reason is one of my favorites personally. Sweater/ Jacket/ Coat season. I love being able to put on a sweatshirt and pea coat know that I will not burn to death when I step outside. It is fun not having to wear shorts and a short sleeve shirt all the time. I personally enjoy being kind of cold, and having the reassurance that a nice jacket is there for you (it sounds weird but it's my life...) There is just so many more options when it is Winter and thus concludes my 2nd point in my 6 part series.

The third is also ever so enchanting! The Winter Menu at Starbucks!!!  Boy do I enjoy a good warm gingerbread mocha in the morning, it is a fact that not only does it warm you physically but also spiritually...(not sure bout that) Just the sight of this cup alone makes me feel happy.  The warmth of it in your hand instantly warms up your soul. There you have it Starbucks...number 3 on the list of 6 awesome winter stuff.

Everyone enjoys a good two and a half week break from school. ( this is where the laziness kicks in and I do a terrible job with the last two) Alright  school is one of those things that you count down the days until you can get out of it for a prolonged time, and once it gets there and is done you count down the days until the next big break comes. There isnt much to say on this and i apologize....

Elf....the one movie that makes Christmas just that much better! Will Farrell meets Zooey Deschanel meets Santa meets Christmas!!

The last and one of my favorites is you know the whole Christmas thing...I guess it's kind of a big deal... Just Kidding Christmas is a huge deal!! The reason we do anything important in December is because of Christmas. We get to celebrate the birth of a savior by giving and getting gifts...kind of a good deal right? But we get two weeks out of school and get to have fun get to gethers and do fun things like white elephant gift exchanges. Along with many assorted TV Christmas specials. It just makes Christmas ever so splendid.

The combination of Jesus, Starbucks holiday menu, Sweater/Jacket/ Coat weather, Elf, the break from school, and the general feel of the season makes it ever so splendid.

    Meaningful

Hello to the 4 or 5 of you that read my blog! Thanks a bunch for taking some time out of your day to listen to little old me talk about random things like slip-n-slides and other things! It is cool that you read/ look at my blog!

    Meaning.....
This is something that I am struggling with right now... what am I doing with my life right now that gives it some kind of meaning? This question is burrowed in the back of my mind and it will not leave, so I decided to just spit up some of my thoughts on this plague that has taken over my mind. So here we go, buckle up gang.

I have recently been stuck in the mind set that almost everything in my life is monotinous....except for wednesdays and sundays when I feel like I actually do something with my life. I hate having to sit in classes all day and not learn anything constructive, then go home and sit, do homework, eat, and then got sleep.... School is hard, boring, and takes up my life. I sit in classes wondering how my life would turn out if I just left school and just traveled across the country. But then reality strikes as I am called on or finally come out of the day dream. People in their junior year of high school have things figured out for their lives, (or so it seems) they check their "class rank"(I despise this more than anything else...You are now just a number to colleges now) daily, so they can go to the perfect college and live a perfect life with the perfect job and perfect kids. I still don't know how I am going to make it through high school let alone college! It is all just so confusing and pointless because we could all die tomorrow (not likely though) and would you be happy with those straight A's? or would you be happy with all of the people you knew and got to build relationships with? If I were to die tomorrow i would not be content with my mediocre life of the same thing day after day.....( What is a guy to do? ) I have gotten to the point where i would rather travel across America on a bike than be stuck in this rut of monotony for one more day.....I don't see the benefit of trying your whole life to make everything perfect and hate life than to just know that you are doing something worth living for... In a book I am reading it talks about " Living good stories" with our lives... And I can say I am living a terribly boring story that I am not proud of.....Anyways that is what I am feeling tonight as I cannot sleep.....

    Much Love,
    Tim

    Fun Fun Fun

Look at how much fun he is having!!
While I was about to fall asleep this evening I think God spoke to me and told me to post about Slip-N-Slides!....All joking aside slip-n-slides are a serious matter as you can see in this video they can kind of be intense!

So much can be said about slip-n-slides, like how they are fun for even the larger members of your family

but anyways my dream is to one day have a lot of people over and have a slip-n-slide party on the golf course...sure this is technically "illegal" but come on its a slip-n-slide!!!

I end with this (not so much fun slip and slide)

    My Favorite show ever!

Yes this show you probably have never heard of is in my humble opinion...The Greatest Show Ever!! Haven't heard of it? Don't Fear you can always watch some of the seasons on Instant Play, or on this sight, http://www.free-tv-video-online.info/internet/top_gear/, ( Start on Season 4 that is when it starts to be amazing) So here are some things you should know, Top Gear is a British TV show about cars...not into cars never fear this show is so much more than a car program it has fun challenges and other things that will make you laugh until you cry (trust me) Ok so this show is amazing from the beginning theme song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYBfEdEoAUY to the funny sign offs. The show usually consists of road tests of a car followed by the Stig (look below), then News, and a celebrity Drives a reasonably priced car, and usually some kind of challenge that the 3 presenters do. Here are the main hosts on the show:

Jeremy Clarkson: The shows main character/ Presenter the funniest part of this show I believe.

Richard Hammond: The "short" one also a very hilarious and quick witted  co host of this program.

James May: Nick named by Jeremy Clarkson as "Captain Slow", is almost the voice of reason between these three presenters.

The Stig: The "Tamed Racing Driver" that is truly a mythical creature that is introduced by Jeremy and always start with the phrase, "some say" and continue with things like, "• Some say that his heart ticks like a watch, and that he’s confused by stairs..", and ,"Some say that his politics are terrifying, and that he once punched a horse to the ground..." and other random things you. Most of these have to do with popular events in Brittain, but most I can understand. You begin to fall in love with the mysteriousness of Lord Stig, whose identity has never been found out and always wears his racing outfit, you do know that he does have cousins in different countries.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfRMYfvF9Xc

So there you have it.. watch this show and change your life forever!

Thoughts at 3:00 in the AM

    Pretty sure I have insomnia!.....Anyways...

While reading Luke tonight the Idea of Denying yourself came up, so I decided to blog about it like I did a while back...Because if anything it helps me get my thoughts written down so I can see them and remember what I read....anyways

Luke 9:23-24 says, " 23And He said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.24For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it ."

I think I have always believed that this verse means that we just have to live for God and endure hardships, but tonight it meant so much more....Tonight it struck me that this also means that we have to abstain from the sin that keeps us far from God, and take our convictions with us every day, and everywhere we go...(if that makes any sense)...This means that none of our Earthly desires should come in the way of God...(easy to say,not so easy to do!!)
Side note:  (This is where I personally fall short....sure I can post verses and posts on what verses I read and what I think about them, but when it comes down to the rubber meeting the road...[hope I am using this analogy correctly]...I fall short...why is this?) I think this is where a whole bunch of Christians end up as well...
Anyways how can we apply this in our everyday lives? That is what I have been pondering myself...I think we can understand that as Christians, and as people, we will have to endure hardships, but as followers of Christ we will never face them alone, we have support! Also we need to bring our convictions with us wherever we may go...School? Work? with friends?...Grocery Store?...Wherever! If you can take anything from this I guess it is that we will have to endure hardships, and give the worldly things we still hold on to to God....And not hold onto our old lives or baggage (Like the Chair video...we want God to rule our lives except for certain gray areas of it that you still hold onto...You have to make decision!)...but always remember God loves you!!  "26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?"

    Thanks Planet Earth!

    Roots...

Buy one, and change the world
Sitting on my couch with my LHC "So Fresh & So Clean" tank top on.

I guess this post is for the three people who read my blog that are not from Lake Hills....

Inspired by my youth pastor's talk tonight...why not make a blog about your roots....I know I know...Tim roots, what does that have to do with anything? Glad you asked...(no one really asked me), Tonight we discussed How as christians our "roots" are a metaphor for how strong our faith in God is.

    GOOD!

Lets start off with Big roots...(you were all begging me to those ones first) and how they are the best base for all plants to grow. So say you are a plant...(I know what you are thinking...tim that is crazy i cant even think about something like that...bare with me) If a huge hurricane comes through your "forest"(your life) wouldn't you want the biggest roots in the world so that you didn't get knocked over? (your answer should be yes) In summary shouldn't our walk be the same?....in the words of Demetri Martin, "Think about it".

    BAD!
And now of course we have the opposite of those big roots, which are.....if you guessed small roots you are CORRECT! (spicing up this post) Anyways when life throws you challenges are you just going to be discouraged and never pick yourself back up? (sorry no longer a metaphor...kind of) Why not prepare yourself for that rainy day when you feel like you cant handle it anymore? again...."Think about it".

    Randomness as promised above...

Well after Last nights deep post I might as well make this one as light hearted as possible.....

Well first of all can I let you know how amazing my afternoon was?

....I'm going to let you know..well because it is my blog and if you really didn't want to you wouldn't be on this page...anyways!

First thing when I got home today I plopped down on my couch with my laptop, napping blanket and pillow, and began to watch tosh.0, but of course it was a re-run so I decided to doze off (naturally), But when I woke up it was 6 o' clock and I had that amazing feeling you get up after a successful nap. I decided to watch some British TV on my laptop, and Slowly dozed off....woke up for the second time at 8 o' clock! bam! 4 hour nap....

Of course I had quite an appetite after this nap so I got the privilege of going to Whataburger or however you spell it..Side note: (Whataburger is my new favorite!)...Why does anyone in Texas eat at Mcdonald's?

Now I sit on the very same couch watching Food Networks "Chopped"(love this show).....For the first round they had to cook Rocky Mountain Oysters (bull testicles)..And many funny quotes came out of this, (yay immaturity) A lady on the show was a pastry chef and she said, "In Pastries we don't really work with testicles alot" and another man said, "I thought we were really working with oysters, until I heard talk of testicles in the background" haha yaa that is my blog of the day!

         Thanks for reading!

    Monday, August 30, 2010

    Something different...

Well I decided to take a break from the whole Texas thing for a day and just kind of share with you my thoughts of today.....
So usually I will just post random verses I read on Facebook, but I realized that this is a more passive technique of not only getting my reading done for the day, but also I can write down any verse I half-heartedly read, and paste it on my wall to let everyone know...Tim read his Bible today..lame right?

So tonight I decided to change it up a bit, and not only read, but try to metabolize it as much as possible by blogging about it...

Anyways tonight I decided to read out of Psalms....no real reason just my bible app on my iPod told me to read it ....trailing off is easy to do at 1:30 in the AM

So I read Psalms "when in doubt..go to Psalms" Anyway I came across an amazing verse (that happens a whole bunch in Psalms) ""side note: Psalms or Psalm?"" that is beside the point....

I read Psalm(s) 6 verse 4, It is just an amazing verse! "4 Return, O Lord, and rescue me.
Save me because of your unfailing love." (New Living Translation)
Yaa So this verse is pretty Neat-o! (good description..right?) I feel like at least for me it was exactly what I needed to read tonight...so ya!!! It is cool to know that God is always there for us and has got our back with his "unfailing love" this verse just kind of lets you know whats up with God and how He loves us all........I guess that is my amazing Bible analysis for tonight!

Lyle Lovett - That's Right (You're Not From Texas)

    Texas! pt. II

    RIGHT

    WRONG!!!!
Here is another random post of what most Texans cannot live without.....This would be Bar-B-Q, no not hot dogs and hamburgers on a grill... we are talking Brisket, Ribs, Pulled Pork, and so much more tasty meats. And their is no shortage of BBQ joints in Austin from the more mainstream Busters BBQ (incorrect, Thank you Alex Bennitt) to the Salt Lick that is in the middle of no where. I have made it my personal goal to find out which ones stand out from the rest! (it is a challenging task..but I'll try my best) Here is a very short list of current leaders; Ribs = County Line, So very tasty! (also amazing garlic mashed potatoes) , Brisket = Rudy's whether it's moist or lean you can't go wrong (amazing creamed corn)....So yaahh there are some of my faves. (sorry if I offended any true Texans who have other opinions on what good Bar-B-Q is, just let me know what you think!)

    Texas!

Why not start this wonderful blog off with some random observations I have made about Texas so far....

1.Football.... I don't think that I have run into a single person who does not have an oppinion on football at some kind of level (mostly males)..whether it'd be The NFL...or of course UT (University of Texas)....or even High school football, These People love their football! The funny thing is that when I was talking to someone a few days back they said that they don't really care as much about Sundays as they do Saturdays....(for watching football of course) It really is a unique love for college football, that I don't think you can see anywhere else. The fans bleed Burnt Orange (not really just to clarify)But I digress, People love their high school football too! I remember the movie (now TV show) Friday Night Lights and thinking,"come on it is high school football it can't be that intense".... I was wrong, very wrong. A game that is going to be played between two high school teams is going to be nationally broadcast from the Ut stadium...kind of a big deal for a high school football game! Am I right? But in conclusion Texans love their football...From pros to High schoolers Texans cannot get enough of it.
